Website Update And Support Boundaries

What counts as a routine website update, what needs new scope, and what to include in a change request.

Routine updates

Routine updates are small changes to an existing site or support relationship. These are the kinds of requests that usually fit inside managed care or post-launch cleanup when they match the agreed support arrangement.

  1. Text edits to existing sections
  2. Photo swaps or small image updates
  3. Hours, phone, email, service area, or address changes
  4. Adding or updating links
  5. Small form routing or confirmation-message changes
  6. Minor cleanup after launch

New scope

Some requests are more than routine support. They may still be a good idea, but they need a separate review, quote, or project plan before work begins.

  1. New pages or major page rewrites
  2. New booking, customer, dashboard, or content-management workflows
  3. Large design changes or a new visual direction
  4. New integrations with external systems
  5. Complex data imports, exports, or migrations
  6. Work outside the active support arrangement

How to ask for a change

Send the page or section involved, the exact text or image change when possible, the reason for the change, and any real deadline. If the request affects customers right now, say that clearly.

Why boundaries matter

Support boundaries keep the website maintainable and prevent small care plans from turning into open-ended rebuilds. When a larger change makes sense, Banyan Tree Design can review it as new project work.
